HELPING STUDENTS STUDY
THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT

Third annual study day for teachers of Greek
Wednesday 22 October 2003, 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. at the University of Birmingham.

Under the auspices of the Classics Centre of the Learning and Teaching Support Network, we enclose the programme and details of a study day at the University of Birmingham, together with a booking form.

What kind of day?

This will be a practical day with presentations and discussions aimed both at those teaching beginners and also those teaching intermediate students. It is the third such day, and the previous two days have been highly rated by those who have been able to attend them. The speakers and leaders are all experienced teachers of Greek, and will be seeking to share their skills and experience with the group that meet: the previous study days have been valuable occasions when we have been able to learn from each other.

What will happen?

Apart from the presentations and discussions which ensue (see the programme), we encourage those attending to bring examples of materials, handouts or ideas they have successfully used with students to share with others: in the workshops particularly we shall aim to draw out ‘good practice’ ideas to improve the learning experience of all of our students. Please tell us on the booking form what you will bring.

How do I book?

The cost for the day, to include coffee, a buffet lunch, and a cup of tea is £20.00. Payment should be sent with your booking. Cheques should be payable to Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, which is handling the booking arrangements (see contact below).

Booking forms should be sent to Jane McLarty at Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge (details on the booking form) as soon as possible. You can post, fax or email it (but in the latter two cases you will need to post your cheque separately). Please send in your booking by Friday 10 October 2003.

Location

We meet at Staff House at the University of Birmingham. This is situated on the main Edgbaston campus of the University. The best way there by public transport is to take the train to University, only two stops on the cross-city line from Birminghan New Street; trains leave from New Street every 15 minutes. Staff House is a short walk from the station – just head downhill towards the main campus and you will see the building in front of you. If you are planning to arrive by car, pay-and-display parking is available: ask for directions when you arrive at any of the main gates of the University. For maps and details on the location, please see the web site at http://www.location.bham.ac.uk/.
